40 Law Enforcement Officers were trained in Cryptocurrency Investigations

The International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA San Salvador), wrapped up today its first course called Cryptocurrency  Research. All thanks to the collaboration of experts from the United States Secret Service (USSS, for its acronym in English).

Crypto-currencies are a new digital method, ensuring users' financial transactions, which are considered today, the money of the future by different banking institutions, large companies and governments throughout the region.

40 Law enforcement officers from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and El Salvador were trained in procedures involving the criminal use of cryptocurrencies, in addition to their mechanics and operational elements.

Participants learned how to identify cryptocurrencies in their investigations and the origin of suspicious cases involving crypto-currencies. In addition, to provide officials with a better understanding of the tracing techniques and investigative tools used to identify portfolios of this type of transactions, the detection of suspects, the use of more sophisticated tools, software and modern technologies.

All of this, so that students have a comprehensive view of alternative and emerging currencies, as well as the techniques used by criminals to progress in their operations and thus avoid being detected.

ILEA San Salvador, always joining in the fight against the different transnational crimes, determined to include this new training to counteract this way, financial crimes that hit the global economies so much.
