70 law enforcement officials trained at ILEA San Salvador

The International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA San Salvador), successfully closed two important courses entitled Arson Investigation, delivered by experts from the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); and  International Border Interdiction, delivered by instructors from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP). 

Law enforcement officials from the Bahamas, Belize, the Eastern Caribbean, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Uruguay and El Salvador completed these important courses on security matters.

The main objective of the Arson Investigation course was to provide hands-on training that requires the investigator to learn the systematic method (layered approach) to sift through a fire scenario, determine its cause and origin, and then process all the information in order to reconstruct the scene. Instructors also walked students through practical fire scene exercises designed to teach and drive home the systematic approach to fire scene examination and analysis.

On the other hand, the International Border Interdiction Training Course centered on border security and transnational organized crime through practical exercises and field work, to reinforce techniques related to import and export operations, incident command structure, admission processes, methods of concealment of passengers and commercial vehicles, smuggling detection, passenger and baggage processing, pedestrian control, document analysis, inspection techniques, officer safety, border patrol operations and the role of investigations in the law enforcement operations in general.
