ILEA trained officers on handling of precursor chemicals

The International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA San Salvador), successfully closed the two-week classroom course on Precursor Chemical Investigation, developed by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States of America.

Law enforcement officers from Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and El Salvador received high-level training in the theoretical and practical fundamentals of chemical protection and handling.

The main objective of the training is to further professionalize the work of law enforcement agencies in investigating clandestine laboratories used for the manufacture of illicit drugs.

Among the operational safety methods for working in a high-risk chemical environment, which the participants learned to use properly, are personal protective equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus and air control devices to prevent exposure or injury.
