US Customs and Border Protection Agency instructs course participants on air cargo interdiction.

The International Law Enforcement Academy, ILEA San Salvador, developed a course on International Air Cargo Interdiction from July the 29th to August the 2nd led by instructors from the U.S of Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP). Thirty law enforcement agents from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Cayman Islands, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and El Salvador participated in this training.

The course main goal was to strengthen the knowledge of airport authorities, customs and law enforcement agents, through practical training based on a variety of topics including import and export operations, incident command system, admissibility procedures, air cargo concealment methods, aircraft searches, internal conspiracies investigations, smuggling detection, airwaybills and supportive documentation analysis, inspection techniques, agent security, and the role of criminal investigations in law enforcement.

The heads of the institution expressed their gratitude and congratulated both participants and instructors for the successful week, with a special mention for the exercise developed at the International Airport of El Salvador in which they had the opportunity to put into practice everything learned.

Again, ILEA San Salvador, through its hard work to professionalize the security forces, reiterates its commitment to continue working to strengthen transnational security and to combat crime.
