In his first two weeks in El Salvador, U.S. Ambassador Ronald Douglas Johnson held a working meeting with Minister of Justice and Public Security Rogelio Rivas at the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA San Salvador).

In addition, Ambassador Johnson took the opportunity to tour the academy's facilities and learn first-hand about the work being done to train law enforcement officers on issues related to combating transnational crime.

The tour was led by the directors of ILEA San Salvador, Juan Henríquez by the Government of El Salvador and Brent Brown by the Government of the United States. In addition, they were able to appreciate an operational practice carried out by the participants of the Tactical Security and Planning's course.

This first rapprochement with the new Ambassador, reaffirms the commitment of both governments to continue working together to ensure security in the region.
