The International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA San Salvador) concluded the two-week virtual course on Natural Resource Crime Investigations, which was developed with the support of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service.
This training focused mainly on issues related to the cultivation and distribution of illicit drugs, arson in wilderness areas, theft and damage to cultural resources, illegal logging and mining.
In addition, technical skills were developed, such as interagency collaboration, the use of traditional, collaborative and technologically advanced methodologies, crime scene assessment, preservation and processing, and investigative case management.
Thirty-seven law enforcement officers from Brazil, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and El Salvador participated in the course.
