The International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA San Salvador), successfully closed the year 2019 with the course called Wildlife Border Inspection. This was made possible thanks to the support of expert instructors from the United States Office of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).
35 participants from Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and El Salvador received such training, which makes them multiplier entities in their respective workplaces, to add to their institution with the knowledge acquired, and thus be able to counteract the environmental degradation.
The aforementioned course provided the members with a broader vision on issues of border control in relation to wildlife, and which were reinforced through practical exercises. Where intensive instructions were included related to the obstruction of smuggling of products that deteriorate the conservation of the flora and fauna of our ecosystem, recreating various types of national and international border points.
The director of ILEA San Salvador for the Government of El Salvador, Mr. Juan Henríquez thanked the instructors and their respective offices for the high standards of training provided to officials, and urged those present to build bonds of friendship and professionalism to achieve greater professional successes
For ILEA San Salvador, this has been a very productive year academically, since it had 37 specialized courses and a master's degree, called Leadership Development for Law Enforcement (LELD). More than 1180 justice applicators from across the region were trained. In addition, it had more than 1900 officials trained in third-party courses, organized by other government agencies.
